The brand’s portfolio includes its range of premium LinGin gins, which is composed of a classic London Dry; multiple limited edition cask-aged expressions; a pink fruit-based gin; a mulled gin; and a navy strength bottling. Although the Summer of 2020 was great weather wise, the emerging impact of Covid was getting ever closer to home for all of us. With Friends and Family succumbing to the Virus, most of us started to feel the real impact of Covid. Our Four Marys® Gin project has been created to complement our Premium London Dry Gin, LinGin®, by using unusual botanicals mixed with traditional ones to give bold flavours and mouthfeels. Big Gin: When all 10 cards in your hand and the card you just drew are parts of melds, so you have 11 cards, all in melds. Featuring elements of five of Linlithgow’s most renowned landmarks and with our distillery name embossed into the shoulder of the bottle and our logo on the base, this bottle truly belongs to Linlithgow, especially as the skyline image has been taken from a photograph belonging to Linlithgow local, Martin Brown.”

These gins all sit at 40% abv and have been distilled at Linlithgow Distillery using the same base recipe. A scaled down version of the LinGin recipe has been used (8 out of the 12 botanicals) and each colour then infused with the flavour of choice after distillation before being bottled by hand. As with every product that is produced by the Linlithgow Distillery team, it is lovingly hand-crafted, bottled and labelled by hand.

Created by Italian glass experts Vetroelite, the unique design of the Lin Gin bottle uses a striking jade colour and signifies a step change for Linlithgow Distillery, replacing the original bottle the brand launched with in 2018. However, we have ambitious growth objectives and to realise these and integrate our future plans for distilling whisky, we wanted to create our own bottle. Note: In the first turn, the starting player must choose to either draw the face up card in the board or pass the turn. If the card is drawn, proceed normally. St Michael’s spire is represented by the bottle shape and the impression of the Crown of Thorns spire when viewing the bottle from the top down and in the Linlithgow Distillery logo embossed on to the bottom of the bottle. LinGin is a classic London Dry style gin – using a maceration technique and direct one-shot distillation with the botanicals present in the mix at all times during the distillation pro-cess. No other flavourings, colourings or sweeteners (either natural or synthetic) have been added either during or after the distillation process. LinGin is bottled at 43% Abv.The Maltings, originally Mains Distillery and latterly converted into a malting house before being developed into apartments, is also represented by the cupola top to the bottle.

Four highly coloured bottles and four individual flavours – sip the flavours individually or mix and match them to create 15 different flavour combinations. The four primary flavours have been designed to mix and match with each other perfectly. I have before me the delightfully bespoke bottled 43% abv LinGin from our April Gin Club, launched in 2018 by The final warm peppery notes are also accompanied by a slight spiciness but again there should be no burn on the throat. An overall classic London Dry gin with a complex flavour profile and a smooth, very drinkable finish. The entire experience should evoke memories of a stroll along the canal bank or round the loch on a warm summer evening and leave you looking for more.

Line bonus or box bonus: This bonus is added at the end of the game, and adds 25 points for each hand won during the game. All four flavours are designed to be served over ice with a standard tonic – we use Fever-Tree Premium Tonic at the Distillery - and simple garnishes which make these drinks the perfect party G&Ts.Initially I came up with a few sketches of ideas and we passed these over to our glass partners at Vetroelite. Their design team helped us to refine these, resulting in a bottle we are extremely proud of that introduces foil lettering on an offset label to create a contemporary bottle that truly reflects the quality of our gin. Shutout bonus: If the winner won every hand in the game then the points for each hand are doubled before adding the line bonus. I wasn't sure here how to handle it if someone has won all hands except for ones that end in a tie, so for now I'm requiring that you win all hands and none end in a tie to get this bonus. Mary Queen of Scots was born in Linlithgow in Palace in 1542. A lesser-known fact is that she had 4 ladies in waiting and they were all called Mary! Talented and loyal, they attended Mary with flair and character and they have been the inspiration for this series of expressions.
