About this deal

She just ran straight in front of the car and I hit her on her left side…she was looking at me all the time. But then she just ran straight in front of the car and I hit her on her left side…she was looking at me all the time. From spirit brides who hitch a lift and ghostly children who disappear, even the busiest roads have their fair share of mysterious sightings. Coach driver Ian Sharpe, 56, saw the ghost only just over a week before the anniversary of the car crash.

In 1994 Ian recounted his experience on BBC TV programme Out of This World hosted by Sue Cook alongside Chris Dawkins, then 19, who also claimed he had an identical experience to Ian.Ghosts have often been spotted on the road but hadn't been for quite some time - more than 20 years ago in fact. We're dedicated to exploring all the dark history, horror, folklore and mysterious phenomena our islands have to offer.

A stretch of dual carriageway between Maidstone and Rochester, in Kent, has been the site of numerous ghostly sightings over the years. But perhaps most notoriously, Blue Bell Hill, a main road which runs between Maidstone and Medway, is one of Kent's spookiest locations. To date there have been more than 50 recorded incidents of travellers on the A229 seeing a phantom woman on the road since the origin of this unnerving haunting in 1965.A white lady, a blue lady and a smiling cavalier are just three of the many ghosts that haunt this spooky ruin. One person who claimed that he did actually see the Blue Bell Hill Hitchhiker ghost firsthand was a local bricklayer named Maurice Goodenough. In 1971, James Skene was driving home from work when a girl in her early 20s suddenly appeared in front of his car. Also, later that month and year, two motorists reported hitting a woman wearing a red scarf near the Robin Hood Lane junction at Bluebell Hill. Mention the words megalith and Neolithic to many people and they will instantly think (unless their eyes, understandably, glaze over) Stonehenge.

The weather was fine and she wore a white cotton dress and a pretty bonnet decorated with pink roses. The 22-year-old was travelling home from her hen night, with two friends, when the car she was in span out of control and crashed. The video shows the figure slowly approaching a terrified driver while the passenger cries for help. Other motorists have reported hitting a woman wearing a red scarf near the Robin Hood junction, who stares intently at the driver before disappearing under the bonnet. As pictures emerged of the carnage that had erupted during a sudden downpour of snow at around 5pm, one in particular caught the eye of drivers and readers alike.

They felt an “extremely cold air” and witnessed an old “gypsy-type women with olive skin clutching a bundle of sticks. Hinks claimed Emily was choked to death because a piece torn from an undergarment was found in the mouth of the skull.

I find hitchhiker ghosts to be one of the most pervasive across cultures and capable of a whole host of intents - from the malevolent to the pitiable.
