About this deal

My remix of ABC’s classic 1982 album The Lexicon of Love was released on 4th August 2023 for its (somewhat belated) 40th anniversary.

Double CD of the show, presented in a deluxe 6 panel fold out sleeve with accompanying 8 page booklet. Disc 2 features some early demos and a previously unreleased live run-through of virtually the entire album, recorded during the band's heyday in 1982.The other physical formats for this 40th anniversary celebration are a half-speed mastered vinyl edition (mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road) and the aforementioned 4LP + blu-ray vinyl box set which includes the half-speed master and three other vinyl records which feature demos, remixes and The Lexicon of Love performed Live at Hammersmith in 1982 (previously issued on CD). The Lexicon of Love was again performed live in its entirety on 18 December 2012 at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane to mark its 30th anniversary. Lead vocalist Martin Fry said that they had wanted to fuse the attitude of punk and the sophistication of disco. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. ABC also enjoyed US success with The Lexicon of Love, as ‘Poison Arrow’ and ‘The Look of Love’ did well on the Billboard Hot 100 (number 18 and 25 respectively) and the album reached the top 30, Stateside.

Sheffield’s finest, ABC, were back in their hometown for a very special anniversary show which marked exactly 40 years to the day since the album was released on the 21 st June 1982.

But if vinyl doesn’t interest you the good news is that there is also a standalone blu-ray edition exclusively available from Super Deluxe Edition. However, one has to wonder what Trevor Horn would do if he dared to do a surround mix or revisit of this masterwork. Distribution in the US and Japan was handled by Mercury Records; Vertigo Records released it in Canada and Europe. The shows at Hammersmith Odeon in November 1982 were recorded for inclusion in the band's film Mantrap which was released the following year.
