About this deal

Mayne’s world-building is incredible in everything she writes – the Folkseries is a great testament to that, too, though I don’t know if I’ll write a review on those until I do a re-read before the next book comes out. Life as a raider in the Wastes, where monsters roam and the military lurks, is as easy as it sounds. also… i just gotta say this… who would have thought human/monster sex could be so hot??? i swear i almost disintegrated multiple times from the HEAT these two brought on to me. i was NOT prepared for this level of hotness.

I love me some Wyn especially in his hooded cloak. Like Danny was all “I need to see your face it’s important” and I was like …. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that if you’re going into a book where a human falls in love with a monster (in a semi-post-apocalyptic world, no less!), then the underlying theme is to do with who the real monsters are. That’s not to say there aren’t other themes at play, but obviously, that’s the main one. I was so excited to see this series finally become available as an audiobook. It is probably in my top 3 series of all time. After seeing this series FINALLY got audio versions, I simply HAD to re-listen to it, especially as I had the niggling feeling that I didn't fully appreciate Wyn (and Danny) until later. On top of that, we have Michael Lesley narrating, and he's one of those who manage to give each and every character a very unique voice. Amazing secondary characters, even the evil ones and especially the monsters. How cute is Edin, seriously? But I have no idea how my citizens and councillors will react to his presence—to the knowledge that a whole other world exists, and there is a portal to it in my guestroom. As much as I try to keep him my secret, the truth starts to slip out. Different Topics and Subjects: Books cover a wide range of topics and subjects, from history and science to romance and fantasy. Categorizing books allows readers to explore specific areas of interest or find books related to a particular subject they are seeking information about.

Somehow, that simple pit stop turns into a seemingly impossible quest to get this camp’s missing leader out of the prison where he’s being held and forced to fight monsters and other humans. And I know exactly where it is, because I’ve been there. I REALLY liked the world building. It’s set up in a post apocalyptic world of sorts, where 20 years earlier some openings to the “monster world” appeared and all kind of more or less threatening beings invaded Earth. Humans live mostly in some crowded cities, and the military is hunting monsters, primarily because they want to use all those powerful beings to further their own agenda. I was just a boy when the monsters rose on earth, forcing humans to flee to the coastlines and live in cramped, dirty, military-controlled cities. I enlisted as soon as I could to escape. For the first time in my unfathomably long life, I know what it means to want another so much that the thought of losing him threatens to ruin me. I will do anything to keep Danny with me for as long as I can have him—for as long as he is willing to stay by the side of an ancient, scarred creature with a voice so inhuman it has sent some mad.The character development is very minimal. We do not know much about Danny or Wyn and they both just feel boring and empty, so their relationship also feels boring honestly. I couldn’t really get into it. Danny has no purpose in life, he wants nothing except to live, but again, he has no purpose. Wyn is more intriguing, but he still remains very bland. I loved him at first, he was scary and dark and intimidating, but then he turned out to be nice and kind and so human-like (I mean, he was insecure about his appearance big time, but he is an apex killer who murdered thousands of people and views humans as inferior beings!). I didn’t feel like it was a monster-human romance anymore because Wyn didn't feel like a monster... Except for the parts where his weird penis is described, that reminded me that he was not human... 😬 I like this thread, is what I’m saying. Every book has a theme (and if someone tells you romance doesn’t, they’re wrong, because every romance book asks us what it means to be loved or to love), and this one weaves through the series and leaves it stronger for it.

Lily Mayne’s Monstrousseries starts here, with Soul Eater, the story of soldier Danny and the death monster who takes a shine to him. His aspiration is to bring a fusion to audiobooks with drama, inhabiting a radio play's potential in every work. He lives in Pittsburgh, PA and is absolutely swallowed up by its honest, modest beauty and mesmerizing, radical history._ And then there’s Wyn. An ancient death monster, near immortal, unfathomably powerful, feared by all… But he has his own insecurities too. Personal Growth and Self-Reflection: Books often provide insights and lessons that can contribute to personal growth and self-reflection. They can inspire you to explore new ideas, challenge your beliefs, and reflect on your own life and choices. Reading self-help and motivational books can offer guidance and inspiration for personal development. This is so dangerous. The military is lurking. Vicious monsters are lurking. And when Mary turns out to be even worse than we could have ever imagined, my desperate bid to save this monster turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse. And those in my fiefdom who cling desperately onto power do their best to tear us apart. To take him from me. I thought I’d not be able to love a monster more than Moth, and then we have Seraph and I’m a puddle. When I realized he used to be human I had to put down my kindle for a while to think about it. He goes through so much and yet emerges such a strong and serene person. I'm not very good with extreme graphic violence, but while some parts here are rather grim and gory, I did not find them overdone or so horrifying that I'd felt the need to hide under a blanket. 😁 A ghoul. A demon. The bogeyman. I have been called all of them. Most creatures fear me, but humans are repulsed by me. They are terrified of me. They have created legends about me, ever since they became aware of my existence when the tear between our worlds grew and we—the monsters from their nightmares—flooded through in our droves.
