About this deal

My DT880's (although purchased new) were actually sent as a demo unit - so I did not get the retail box.

It scales well with amplification and although i might not yet fulfill its potential, i do believe it is quite a magical set that will never leave my collection, and its generally unoffensive tuning is what makes it my daily driver. With the DT 880, you'll hear everything, including conductors singing along, breathing, page turns and seat creaks. size] [size=medium] I own most of these songs on CD, they are ripped to lossless audio and played from a PC. Sound Stage- a very high energy and multi layered track, with so many individual pieces working together a large sound stage is crucial. The hifiman he400i is better for critical listening with more forward microdetails and better timbre however it suffers from a more artificial imaging and the high energy is a double edged sword, it is more resolving but is more prone to fatigue. This makes them sound decently well balanced, with instruments and vocals that don't feel pushed back or too forward on most tracks.

I loved those headphones - until the headband elastic deteriorated, but that was after a respectable six years of good service (the cabling and drivers never failed). I have heard headphones like the V-Moda M-80 described as neutral but this is only true if you compare them to a 'bass-head's presentation like Dr. As for soundstage, there are hints of 3D in it, but it's too narrow and shallow to precisely position instruments.Eventually, I found the pleasure of listening to music mainly by the HD600 and recently, by the seductive LCD2 headphones, and realized the true components of recorded music.

It's a great balance of transparency and detail in the treble, with a more forward mid-range for added warmth.

Low-treble is well-balanced, but treble is over-emphasized by an average of 5dB, peaking at 12dB around 9KHz. Reference notes will always be in italics, and are included in the Video Reviews and Head Fi review posts. It's the most satisfied I've been with a full sized can since starting my headphone journey in 2010, resulting in me keeping them for a good 2 and a half years. I auditioned these with various amplifiers, and the sound didn't vary — just the maximum output, which of course will vary the perceived bass response. This headphone is quite V-shaped, I never quite understood why it stood evenly with the K701 and HD650.

The original 1988 DT990 is much more muffled, but the old DT990 has sparklier (smoothly boosted) highs. dt880 pro with aune t1 is one sweet combo that is kind to your wallet, sweet to your soul and brings sparkle to your life and that is before you even start tube rolling. This also is supposed to provide a more "powerful" sound (whatever that means) - but I suspect it may have more to do with bass presence and tighter soundstage. I bought the Premium Edition because I prefer the straight cable (they are also slightly cheaper), but I would like the headband to be removable like on the Pro version. For casual gaming (FPS), i do think the expansive horizontal, good depth alack of bass presence actually do help in pinpointing and predicting footsteps and gunfire however when levels are concerned it can be quite misleading.I would not use it for outside, or in an environment demanding quiet - but for normal use around the home so far it has been excellent. That mantle usually brings with it a lack of bass presence that can disappoint some people in the musicality department. Moving onto the ear pads, I was surprised to find the velour material on the DT 880 is not the same as the 770. Still, the headphone remains utterly detailed but much more enjoyable than without any equalization applied.
