Altra's FootShape toebox has annoyed us at times in other modules, but in the XT it seems to do a good job of accommodating a wider range of toe configuration. This model supports lighter and moderate loads well and I've squatted up to 315 lbs and deadlifted up to 455 lbs in this shoe.

The shoe’s 23 mm stack height provides ample cushioning for high-intensity activities, while still maintaining a low-profile design that is perfect for those who prefer a more minimal feel. While it has okay stability, it's not going to be your best cross-training shoe for maxing out your lifts.It also allows a balanced foot position for dynamic movements that require a lot of coordination and precision foot placement. In summary, the Altra Solstice XT 2 is a versatile cross-training shoe that is perfect for zero-drop enthusiasts who are looking for a shoe that can handle a variety of activities. But it might slowly start to wear on you and bring out a little pussyfooting as the hurty trot starts to set in. For those transitioning into zero-drop shoes and barefoot shoes, I often suggest they explore the Solstice XT 2 because it can somewhat serve as a bridge shoe.
