About this deal

As Wayne says, 'This is a book that will forever change the way you look at your life, and the result will be that you'll live in a new world aligned with nature. Some of the chapter titles are "Living with Flexibility," "Living Without Enemies," and "Living by Letting Go. perhaps one day when I have free time I will try to take it up again, and perhaps then it will change my mind, who knows? Many verses in the Tao Te Ching touch on the idea of being effortless and suggest that we can look at desire as an effort that’s worth reducing. I like all the words of wisdom imparted through out this book, however, having just lost my mother, the references to our mother and the feminine that is within each of us that we should embrace was especially touching!

Then when we hold on to it, we continue to beat ourselves up over our mistakes, which becomes a cycle of making more mistakes and leads to digging a deeper emotional hole.

By doing so, we create a powerful feedback loop that leads to achievement, contentment and fulfillment. If not through deliberate study of the language and Chinese characters, then least of all with the help of scholars and/or people proficient in the language? If you find that you’re constantly putting yourself down or focusing on the problems, make a conscious effort to look for solutions to those very problems. Take this one slowly, in conjunction with the Tao, and take note of all the references he gives to other sources which can help with your understanding. I mean, it is okay for us (who are not writing a book) to study and compare the Tao from the translations.

In my humble opinion this beautiful interpretation of the infamous Lao Tzu classic should be essential listening for everyone. Decide to defuse as many of them as you can comfortably, perhaps by assigning them an 'intensity grade. I was listening to the beautiful quotations and the magical voice of the author and "beautiful" was all I could say mesmerized by such wise and simple things. Wayne passes the teachings of the Tao Te Ching through his signature self-help-ish lens, and turns it into a sort of map for living in contemporary times for the overwhelmed, unhappy person. Finally, and mainly for my own future reference - I have bookmarked both the audio, as well as the PDF versions I have. As there have been many translations into English, Dr Dyer has selected his favourite translation for each verse. I need to keep rereading this book (or listen to the audio), but every time I do, I find my thoughts changing.

It is the practice of doing nothing, and it is through your feelings that the path will be revealed. Decide to do the Tao (or practice the Way) in that moment by turning inward with curiosity about where you are on the continuum between desire and allowing. Doing" the Dao (as he instructs you time and time again at the end of each chapter) deliberately should've struck him as completely counter-intuitive to the Daoist idea of non-action (Wu-wei) if he really became such an expert on the text's intricacies; for someone who bemoans the woes of the "ego", he sure can't stop basking in his self-importance, imposing to you how trying this challenge was with his first-world problems (making through a 90 minute yoga session), even referring to himself as a master of the Dao at some point. I would recommend William Martin's books based on the Dao; there is one for lovers, one for parents and one for the 2nd half of life.Applicability of cancellation rights: Legal rights of cancellation under the Distance Selling Regulations available for UK or EU consumers do not apply to certain products and services.
