About this deal

The stories themselves are always well thought out and spark the imagination, and David Walliams does create unique characters and brings each of them to life. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. This book certainly adds some excitement to reading and might engage even the most reluctant of reluctant readers. It has been a while since Walliams wrote a story about a girl with wit as sharp as a smooth edge of paper, a delightful sense of humour, and courage that fails at nothing.

A girl who likes telling jokes goes to a school for extremely bad kids, the school is on an active volcano and I’m not sure how the book got published, as there is so much child abuse and so much illegal stuff. In David's brand new novel Megamonster, heroine Larker discovers something dangerous in the heart of the Cruel School - science teacher's Doctor Doktur's Monsterfication Machine. The plot rushes too quickly with no chance to build any character relationships, or to feel any empathy.

I know adults may review this in regards to if a child would enjoy it, but I'm reviewing it as an adult reading it. The plot was somewhat entertaining, but there was just nothing underneath it, and I think that’s what I found the most disappointing.

He has gone on to take the children’s literary world by storm, dominating sales charts and twice winning the National Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year. We follow Larker who finds herself sent to Cruel School as a punishment and her adventures within it. Het meisje Larker wordt vanwege haar flauwe grappen en stoute gedrag naar de allerergste school die je maar kan bedenken gestuurd: The Cruel School. All of the kids except ‘larker’ get turned in to monsters, one was a slug, one was an amoeba, one was a jellyfish and so on. David's books have now exceeded 100 non-consecutive weeks at children's number one, and have been translated into 53 languages, selling more than 35 million copies worldwide.

When Larker is sent to the school, she quickly realises that VERY odd things are going on involving sinister Science teacher Doctor Doktur, a secret cave and a ‘Monsterfication Machine’. His debut children's novel, The Boy in the Dress, was published in 2008 to unanimous critical acclaim and he has since developed a reputation as a natural successor to Roald Dahl.A lot of children will probably still get enjoyment out of this, but it isn’t David Walliams at his best. This magical story of bravery will convince little girls that courage does not differentiate gender. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. This book had everything one expects from a David Walliams book; a fantastic story, wonderful characters, and a great message for young readers. This is another mess of a book by David Walliams, there are some good ideas but as a whole it doesn’t really work.
