Four years ago, Emery sneaked out in Reed's bedroom to profess her love to him and to do other things with him, but it turned out that Nash was in his place. Okay, this was my second attempt at reading Devious Lies and I'm annoyed I gave up so early the first time.

The pacing was lackadaisical, with long stretches of introspection and internal monologues that felt repetitive and unnecessary.My friends already know how a big mafia books obsessed I am and the funny thing is that I've read the only book of Parker that is non mafia related! He sees the love that Emery has for his brother, and assumes that someday things will work out for them. The mom you hate and a guy you considered to be nothing more than a creep until last night lied to you. I really should have given up after chapter 2 but I just had to know if this was how it was going to go. Unless I belong to another species, I have no whatsoever liking to those who bend over backwards for a man who manages to insult them at every turning corner.

as the author, I understand she's trying to convey the history of these two wounded people to create depth and understanding. It was interesting to see this character begin to realize that he may have gotten somethings wrong and that he may have feelings for Emery. After her father loses his company due to insider trading and goes into hiding, Emery is let poor and in debt.This is absolutely engrossing with a complex, slightly twisted relationship that goes through so many changes throughout the course of the book. This might be an epic love story or a great book, I am trully happy for the readers who were thrilled, but it was not for me.

ladies and gentlemen…nash’s revenge plot against emery and her family for “killing” his dad even tho his dad died of a heart attack. Nash kept pushing her down and Emery fights back up, in the end she is showering in front of my boss and skipping work to fuck him. How did my eyes completely miss some of these quotes🤣🤣 The Hogwarts house bye🖐️🖐️ after your review I cannot believe I ever gave this book 5 stars, istg can't trust anything my brain was thinking back in 2k19. guess i'll never find out because i dnfed the book 🤪 but to name a few, this had enemies to lovers, rich girl/poor boy (in the past), rich boy/not-so-rich heroine (present), heroine working for the hero, age gap, PENPALS (? If you go into this thinking it'll be the umpteenth novel filled with flying dicks and acrobatic sex, you've picked up the wrong book.

Well I think this book would be epic if the author didn’t spend pages and pages writing about meaningless stuffs. Okay, we both mistook one another for other people, but for my sanity’s sake, I needed to believe we were different. As a person who loves words, I really enjoyed Emery’s love for “magic” words and her ability to work through difficult times and/or emotions by putting words on tshirts.

Could she be any more self-sacrificial, infuriating, contradicting, confusing, generous, deviant, remarkable, or fucking goddamn consuming?i found myself just reading the dialogue so that’s my secret on how i finished this 700 page book so quickly. I fell in love with everything and am heartbroken that this was standalone because quite honestly I would give anything to read more about Nash and Emery.
