This beautiful animated short film for every child to enjoy and the story is one that your family will easily fall in love with. The author of the book, Julia Donaldson, collaborated on the script and, although I love the book, I feel that she took the opportunity offered by this adaptation and improved on the book. And at the end he was so happy to see the Gruffalo and the little brown mouse together he came over and hugged me.

However, the character animation seemed only fair--and compared to many other CGI films of the last few years it does not compare well.

I must admit I was a little bit wary of getting this for my children, as I couldn't work out how you could make the story of the Gruffalo last long enough to make a stage show out of it. The Academy Award nominee short film has wonderful background music and animal sounds that got my son’s feet moving and grooving. Since then I have taken my two younger children to the same stage show, along with several outings to "The Gruffalo's Child".

Excellant play that sticks close to the original story and is excellantly acted out by the 3 actors, all the songs add to the story perfectly and are easily picked up by any 3-4 year old. Also available in the collection of much-loved family films based on the wonderful books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, are: The Gruffalo’s Child, Room On The Broom, Stick Man, The Highway Rat and Zog. My two year old daughter has been brought up on the books by Julia Donaldson, so she is very familiar with the Gruffalo. Humourous acting and songs keep my little one glued and at just under an hour long gives me plenty of time to get on with things.but be warned the songs are addictive and if your child is anything like mine you will have a hard time getting this switched off. Each of the characters is brought to life through songs, which are simple enough for children to sing along with, and the characterisation of the animals is wonderfully done. Following a little mouse whose looking for food and finds himself in quite the bind with 3 different animals who find him to be the tasty meal. This version of The Gruffalo is gorgeous - the forest is lush, the action is quirky and humerous of itself and the characters are great 3D representations of those in the book. new Book – without signs of wear, has not been used/read before, in rare cases it may have very slight scratches on the cover – due to warehousing / storage and transport.
