About this deal

However, I think that the author provides enough explanation that this one can be read as a stand alone.

Like all good crime stories, this brings something of an edge into its glossy golden age tinted spectacles with the secrets that are unravelled. Although I am sure that she was invited to Aldemere in the last book to promote the movie, as she was also part of it. Well plotted and reads quick and i feel you will want to get comfortable and settled as you will be gripped until you have finished the book. I really liked the atmosphere the book created with the North Wales setting and brooding weather conditions.I knew I would be in safe hands with Katy Watson and A Very Lively Murder was everything I hoped it would be! badges that one of the characters creates are inspired and I hope will soon be available in really life? Rosalind King has previously starred as Dahlia in the original movie series and now, young Posy Starling is taking the character back to the silver screen.

This helped me stay connected to each of the three lead characters and aided the pacing of the story. The friendship that has formed despite the initial professional rivalry between the three leads is something that we need more of in not only literature but in life. There's celebrity drama, discussion of discrimination and abuse of women in the film industry and it culminates in a locked room murder mystery in atmospheric Tŷ Gwyn (the White House) during a storm. By the time we reach the final act revelations, we have grown with the characters and the potential for the series going forward is incredibly exciting.

But the film set soon turns sinister when Rosalind receives death threats and is nearly killed when the prop knife on set is swapped for a real knife. A must for fans of classic mysteries' Frances Brody'An affectionate homage to the Golden Age of Detective Fiction and a wry nod to our continuing fascination with it. At the beginning we are in Caro's home, she is not part of the movie that's being made and feels left out and confused as to what to do next in life. He is arrested for her murder and there is an additional fight to prove his innocence, which is not easy when Kit’s car is seen on cctv at the time of the incident.

I discovered this series about two weeks ago and since then I devoured the first book in the series (The Three Dahlias), the fun Christmas short story (Dahlias Decks the Halls), and now the second book, (A Very Lively Murder). We are also trying to tackle a pretty heavy subject here, where an old actor used to drug and rape young actresses. I'm not sure how much longer the conceit can hold, and I'm not sure how interested I'll be if these shift to being One Dahlia mysteries instead of Three, but I'm definitely planning to give the next one a shot.In between filming scenes, signing autographs for locals, photoshoots on set and jetting off to France for an impromptu party, the three Dahlias do what they do best - surreptitiously sleuth. It can’t be too long before the rights have been snapped up and the 3 marvellous Dahlia’s stroll off the page and into the big (or little screen) for real.

But no - guess what happens during this night of being trapped in with suspects and building tension. The relationships between the three women is one of the best elements of this series and it was great seeing Posy coming into her own as the latest Dahlia. In this latest addition to the Dahlia Lively series, A Very Lively Murder, the three Dahlias, Caro, Rosalind, and Posy, are reunited once again and back sleuthing on the set of The Lady Detective when it quickly becomes apparent that there’s a murderer amongst the cast when threats, victims, accidents, and dead bodies all start piling up. I enjoyed the first book in the series and loved coming back to some of my favorite characters… I will be waiting with bated breath for the third installment. During the filming the pair realise that Rosalind is being targeted by a dangerous killer and contact Caro Hooper (the star of the tv series as Dahlia) to help them with their investigation.
