About this deal
The post- Jedi Star Wars Expanded Universe had within it a good number of characters who rose to prominence, despite not being a direct part of any of the on-screen adventures of the franchise. IMPORTANT NOTICE: as of December 2020 the United Kingdom no longer operates under EU rules, therefore import taxes must be paid when your item arrives in the destination country. With exquisite features and decoration, this series embodies the quality and realism that Star Wars devotees love.
It all works a bit better than I’d expected; many of Mara’s prior figures have looked a bit tossed together, but this sculpt flows rather nicely. Paint apps across the body are limited to a couple of metallic colours on the belt and shoulder harness. Her head isn't easily removed (many of the Black Series heads aren't), so unless you really heat things up, it's a permanent piece. Mara Jade, like the Publishing Series as a whole, is certainly a release for the Expanded Universe fans and while not exclusive as such, the releases do follow a similar pattern as other sub-lines like Gaming Greats where they are creating new figures with a lot of parts reused from older figures. Thus far this year the only other new Black Series figure I've purchased was Doctor Aphra, part of the same series as the Mara Jade figure I'm looking at today.
Mara’s color work is generally on the basic side, largely relying on molded colors, especially for the bulk of her outfit. Given her quite interwoven story with Luke, Mara was one of the first major “casualties” of Disney moving away from the Expanded Universe. The girls toy aisles aren't our regular ball park but we occasionally like to try something different to our norm.
