About this deal

The main story arc of the new season suggests that time is running out for Luther's less-than conventional working methods. I think perhaps the nature of the crimes disturbed me so much, as I also found Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, to be compelling yet very uncomfortable reading too, and the crimes were somewhat similar.

UPDATE: Since writing this, I rewatched episode 1 of series 1, and looked at some episode synopses for other series 1 episodes. I'm a bit behind the times watching the TV series 'Luther' as only watched it in the last couple of weeks. Can Luther employ his creative techniques to do it, or will the death of another innocent be on his hands? It might be passing a courier on the stairs in the office and I think: Why is that guy wearing his helmet? You are really invested in Luther catching the criminal and you want him to mete out his own justice even though you know it will torture the character and cost him dearly.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. For example, I doubt very much a woman has ever thought about her own body in that way and using those words. The novel looks deeper into Luther’s own past and the small details mentioned in the show that weren’t explored more. It's not the violence I dislike as I've read worse it's the arrogant mindset that the end justifies the means and that his views and objectives are the correct ones. A word of warning to the faint of heart: if you found some of the crimes in the TV series hard to stomach this book may not be for you. I think we do get a sense of who Luther is and why, and although I will be watching the start of series 5 tonight, I shall probably go back and see how the novel’s ending works its way into series 1. You will be installed in the story by the first page; it is so exquisitely brazen, you will screech and howl before it is over.
