About this deal

Prolific tea drinkers will argue until they're blue in the face that the brand that they drink is the best, and that's exactly what some of our writers have been doing this week. Here are our arguments for which tea brand is the best: PG Tips Extra Strong Before this test, I wouldn't have tried another brand of tea, through fear of ending up with a cup of disappointment, but now I would definitely reconsider as the cost of food is rising, it's a good way to save a few pounds on your next shop if you're a tea addict like me. For me this was my previous 'go to' choice when it came to tea, though I have to admit it wasn't quite as flavoursome and punchy as the PG tips and Tesco's bags. Twinings may have the royal seal of approval, but that certainly wasn't enough (Image: Ellen Jenne) The pyramid-shaped bag allows room for the tea to breathe and brew; swirling around the water and squeezing all of its tea-y goodness out.

READ MORE: I pitted five chocolate digestives from Aldi, Asda, Morrison's, Sainsbuy's and M&S against McVitie's It was her who first introduced me to it at the tender age of five or six, and it’s probably about the only thing she did correctly.

The teabag felt rather flimsy, so I was worried about squeezing it too hard and ruining my brew with an explosion of tea particles. A little pricier than the first two, it was a slight improvement, not no Yorkshire Tea. I could happily sit and drink Yorkshire Tea all day if I had to, and I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up if someone offered me a cup.

The majority of Brits love a classic cup of tea, but sadly the price of tea bags have risen by 14 per cent. Yorkshire’s colour was even better than the others, resembling a rich cup of melted milk chocolate.Last but not least was my store cupboard staple, my go-to choice, my steaming hot friend who makes me feel more alive in the morning. A strong contender that is up there with any of the other big hitters such PG Tips, Tesco, and Twinings, the well-known brand of Tetley made for an enjoyable drink that more than lived up to its popular reputation. Tesco's bags were the only ones that weren't foiled for freshness, but this didn't negatively impact the taste. It didn't have much of that lovely tea smell, but it was still a hearty cup and I would happily try again! The taste continued to worsen, so much so it ended up tasting like dishwater, which was not what I expected. It's the priciest supermarket tea I tried, but did taste the best, and still cheaper than a box of Yorkshire!
