About this deal

I love the built-in heater guard. You can really feel the quality of the dense plastic when you hold it in your hand. All three heaters that we’ve mentioned all have thermostats in them, so you wouldn’t have to worry about not having consistent temperature in the entire tank. Also, each heater has various wattages that would be appropriate for certain tank capacities (as indicated on their boxes). The heater comes with a polarized plug and a heat guard for extra protection. It’s best used for aquariums around 20 to 45 gallons.

Of all the heaters that I tested, it was the set-it-and-forget-it model. I really like that it’s got a built-in heater guard to help keep adult fish safe. Are aquarium heaters safe? Generally, aquarium heaters are safe for you and your fish. However, it is important to handle them properly. There are a few safety concerns regarding aquarium heaters. Timers and thermostats: These give you more control over how long your heater is on for and the warmth it’s emitting. Setting a timer and thermostat also means you can use your fan more efficiently, as it will turn off once it's been on for a set period of time or when the room reaches your desired temperature – much better than guessing or leaving it on for longer than necessary! If your tank is bigger or smaller than a 55 gallon, no problem! Fluval makes several different sizes of E heaters for you to choose from. Always refer to a guide to see which heater is compatible with a certain tank capacity. Why? Well, it wouldn’t be wise to get a big heater that has strong wattage and put it inside a smaller tank size because that would lead to several problems such as constant cycling.

To find the best electric heater, our experts start by measuring their power consumption. They run each heater for an hour on its highest and lowest setting and calculate how much it costs for that period. The Aqueon Adjustable Pro Aquarium Heater is our top recommendation for most aquariums due to the durable design and safety feature. This is a good choice because it is an aquarium heater with a protective guard already built in. However, the majority of fish that are kept in aquariums are tropical fish. Therefore, they must be kept in relatively warmer temperatures. An aquarium heater becomes a necessity especially during the winter when the temperature drops.

Once you’ve settled on the best type of heater for your room and needs, there are a few extra things to consider. This is pretty standard, lots of devices that utilize suction cups are like this, even several others on this list. But, these were insanely difficult to push through. All five heaters are 200 watts, to make sure that I was making a fair comparison between brands and models. I also installed them in the same part of the aquarium to make sure that each heater was exposed to the same amount of water flow in the aquarium. Out of all the aquarium heaters I’ve reviewed, I think the Hygger Pinpoint Accurate Titanium Heater shines above the rest. Even though it’s a little more expensive than the other products, the number of features it comes with makes it a worthwhile investment.

These electric heaters are not designed for use in dusty, dirty, corrosive, or hazardous locations. Portions of the heater can get hot. Adequate protection must be taken to protect people from potential burns, and to protect other components from this heat. nVent recommends this heater only be installed in a totally-enclosed metal enclosure. These heaters circulate air throughout the unit and into the surrounding space, meaning they are generally quiet and better at evenly warming an entire room. Like radiators, they can take a while to warm up. Fan heaters
