As far as I can tell, Cycle of the Werewolf was Stephen King’s first venture into an illustrated novel, a marriage of a story and graphics. It’s cool that he tries different things, new mediums to express his thoughts for the Constant Reader. Why not? It makes sense. That said I am not the best judge of this method. I have a preference for reading the words and letting my brain do the visualizing.

s film lovers will get a lot of joy out of this, as it has that “kids have to save the day” trope we’ve all grown to love. Herman Coslaw: He is the phys ed teacher at the Tarker's Mills grammar school. He is the father of Marty Coslaw. Virgil the gas station attendant is a Nice Guy while the gas station attendant in the book was a unpleasant hothead who hit a customer in the face with the gas nozzle in an argument over the price and then commented that he didn't know why the guy was complaining, because he could have hit him harder. A 1985 film adaptation of Stephen King's Cycle of the Werewolf, produced by Dino De Laurentiis, directed by Daniel Attias, and starring Corey Haim, Megan Follows, Gary Busey, Everett McGill, Terry O'Quinn, and Lawrence Tierney. Adaptational Personality Change: Stella is a deeply lonely, middle-aged virgin in the book and a younger woman upset about being abandoned by her boyfriend after getting pregnant in the film.The lesson here is obvious: for all the happiness and serenity that comes with suburban life, there’s always something hiding under the surface. Not even in an ideal community can you truly hide from the monsters. We're in Tarker's Mills, Maine, in 1984. The book is divided into 12 chapters, each depicting the events (or one specific event) in the respective month of the year. So we start in January and come full circle by the end of the book.

Milt Sturmfuller: He is the town librarian. He is married to Donna Lee Sturmfuller, whom he hit somebody hard many times and mistreats. He has an affair with Rita Tennison who gave him herpes, that he later passed to his wife. He is killed by Lowe who takes Milt's head off with a swipe with Milt's eyes wide, when Milt thought he got himself away from Taker's Mill with Rita from the werewolf. Like Kemper told me while I was reading it, Cycle of the Werewolf is essentially a Stephen King calendar. Each chapter is a month out of the year the werewolf is stalking the town, accompanied by one or more of Bernie Wrightson's fantastic illustrations. Stephen King's writing is as crisp as ever. Also, he wrote this during his prime so it isn't bloated or over-written in the least. Tsundere: Kate Coslaw, who ranges from Bratty Teenage Daughter to Cool Big Sis when the time comes. When the werewolf tries to go after Marty, she's easily the most concerned for his safety, despite having taunted him the night before, and often tries to make up for any act that might be deemed cruel to him. Intergenerational Friendship: Virgil the gas station attendant seems to be familiar and friendly with Marty while filling up the silver bullet in one scene. Any dedicated moon-watcher will know that, regardless of the year, I have taken a good many liberties with the lunar cycle – usually to take advantage of days (Valentine's, July 4th, etc.) which 'mark' certain months in our minds. To those readers who feel that I didn't know any better, I assert that I did... but the temptation was simply too great to resist.Batter Up!: Owen Knopfler wields a baseball bat named PEACEMAKER which he mainly uses to stop Andy Fairton from starting fights. The werewolf ultimately beats him to death with it, and later uses it against Sheriff Haller. Death of a Child: Zigzagged. While Marty does make it to the end, one of the werewolf's victims is a child in both the book and the movie. The reader gets to investigate who of the townspeople could be this mythological creature while the bodies pile up.
