The Service has been prepared by us solely for information purposes to Members and the Service is based on information we consider reliable and we obtain the contents of the Service from a number of different third party sources (including Contributions), but we do not endorse, support, represent, warrant or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of the Services and any information therein. In July 2017, Chivas Brothers sold GlenAllachie to The GlenAllachie Distillers Company, a new consortium consisting ofBilly Walker of BenRiach and GlenDronnach fame, ex-Inver House Distillers MD Graham Stevenson and Trisha Savage. Just like he did with BenRiach and GlenDronach, Walker added the capital ‘A’ to the name, but that was just the beginning of the changes in store. We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then. Any new functionalities, tools and features shall be part of and governed by the Terms from the moment they are launched and/or available. Further, we reserve the right to modify, change, discontinue the Service, add or remove features, update the Service, change its appearance, temporarily and permanently, at any time, in whole or any part thereof. In July, we revealed our first Wood Finish range, which comprises three expressions, and in May we unveiled the visitor centre and shop, welcoming visitors to the distillery for the first time since it was built in 1967. Here we see the blight of the 100-point scale - so much real estate left vacant to the left of 80. GlenAllachie is a Speyside distillery that was founded in 1967, and it’s been shuttered and reopened at least once since then. In 2017 the distillery changed hands for at least the third time, and it is now up and running again under independent management. Dried dark fruits, savoury scone, jalapeño pepper. It’s hot for the ABV and mainly hits the sides of the tongue transitioning to a mid-length harsh finish. Water changes things dramatically and smooths out the harshness (although it’s still there), bringing more sweetness, fudge and milk chocolate, fruit juice, and slight herbal tones. The nose is more pleasant than the taste, which just seems a bit simple and hot.

GlenAllachie 15 year old has been aged in a combination of Oloroso and PX Sherry Hogsheads and Puncheons. GlenAllachie was soon refurbished and relaunched, with an aim to be a ‘truly independent, Scottish-owned and managed’ whisky company, producing a big, fruity malt whisky. Six single cask bottlings made an appearance in April 2018 and were soon followed by GlenAllachie’s first ever core range of single malts in June of that year. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products.Here’s a 15 year old single malt from a distillery known to produce malt whisky for blended whiskies. Because it’s been used for blends, GlenAllachie has an impressive annual production capacity of 3,2 million liters. The GlenAllachie Distillery was founded in 1967 and is located at Aberlour of Scottish Speyside region. Nose: Immediately it’s clear that the sherry influence on the 15 year is even bigger than the GlenAllachie 12 year expression. Big butterscotch and raisin, with strong influence of those classic sherry notes. The nose is rich and silky, without being heavy or cloying. Notes of grape, cherry cola, and caramel dance across the nose. Then as the whisky settles into the glass, a distinctive buttered popcorn note takes the stage. Finish: While the palate can come off a bit strong at times, the finish is an exercise in restraint. It boasts a medium length finish that lingers with more baking spices and more toasted oak. Not as sweet as the nose or palate, the wood tannins come to the forefront, leaving a drier and more savory balance to an overwise strongly sweet whisky.
