About this deal

Karen Rose is one of the bestselling romantic thriller and suspense authors of our time, and her nail-biting reads are bound to keep you up way past bedtime.

Another draining, gritty, but in the end triumphant romantic suspense from Karen Rose. This latest takes the series to San Diego and a grim series of killings by a predator possessing a clever, cold mind. After completing her tours with the Marines in Iraq, Molly Sutton knew she could take down any bad guy she met.But when a family tragedy exposes the dark side of her local police, she joined up with her former CO Burke Broussard, who left New Orleans PD to set up a private investigative service for people who couldn’t find justice elsewhere. After completing her tours with the Marines in Iraq, Molly Sutton knew she could take down any bad guy she met. But when a family tragedy exposes the dark side of her local police, she joined up with her former CO Burke Broussard, who left New Orleans PD to set up a private investigative service for people who couldn’t find justice elsewhere. I think this is one of my favorite books by her so far and I am really looking forward to more in this new San Diego based series. Amazing and sooooo good! 👏👏 Her debut suspense novel, DON'T TELL, was released in July, 2003. Since then, she has published fifteen more novels and two novellas. Her seventeenth novel, ALONE IN THE DARK, will be released in 2016.

In New Orleans, instead of being centered around law enforcement, the stories seem to be characters who work for Broussard's private investigators. Broussard is an ex-cop in New Orleans and has friends on the force who also figure in the events. Gabe Hebert saw the toll that working for the NOPD took on his dad and decided instead to make a name for himself as one of the best young chefs in the French Quarter. But when his father’s death is ruled a suicide after a deliberately botched investigation by his former captain, Gabe knows his dad stumbled onto a truth that someone wants silenced.

When there is an attempt to kidnap his son, Elijiah, J.P. "Kaj" Cardozo, a New Orleans ADA, is forced to admit that there are only a few people in the city he trusts. Being in the city for only six months, he has few friends on the police force, especially as his focus has been police corruption. Kaj hires Broussard Investigations to protect his son and Val Sorensen is assigned to the case. Last Updated on June 22, 2023 New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose’s books fall under the umbrella of the Romantic Suspense Series. However, they can be further classified based on their location (Chicago, North Carolina, Cincinnati, etc). In addition, she also has new series separated from her main set of novels, titled San Diego Case Files.Things got dicey at the end when all the action came to a head. With Kit and Sam figuring out who the bad guy was at the same time they were able to stop one last killing, one that would have hit Kit hard. Despite her success, Karen Rose remains committed to her craft and is constantly striving to improve her writing. She is known for her attention to detail and her dedication to research, often spending months researching the topics and locations featured in her novels. Blistering, high-octane suspense that never lets up.”— New York Times bestselling author Karen Robards

Val is a great role model for woman. She has survived the most horrendous ordeal a woman can face. Val has managed to overcome her mental demons and move forward. I admire Val’s willingness to become Jace’s advocate. She knows the boy has been dealt a bad hand, especially by his two older brothers. Val believes the teen deserves better, and she wants to help him achieve it. What I like the most about Val is her thoughtfulness towards Elijah’s medical needs. She researched his condition, so she could better understand everything he may need while under her protection. Beyond Dark Waters is the 2nd novel in the New Orleans series. (Rose even references Scarlett from the Cincinnati series, which, for me, was one of my favorite parts of the book.) When Sam Reeves patient’s claims hint at him being a killer he doesn’t know how to tell the police without jeopardizing his career with patient confidentiality laws in place. However, Sam can’t live with himself if there’s someone in danger and he doesn’t do something about it. Little does he know that his tip with lead to him being a suspect. This is a really interesting concept for a story because it follows not only the perspective of the police working on a serial killer case, but also the perspective of a psychologist who has found himself involved in the case. Kit is a determined, hardworking cop who is motivated by the murder of her foster sister to solve as many cold cases as possible to give families closure like she didn’t get. Sam is a psychologist who does lots of charity work and seems like an all round Good Samaritan. One of his patients disclose information connected to a serial killer that leaves him feeling unsettled, and he gets pulled into this case and even finds himself as a suspect. Kaj, Val, and Elijah are likeable characters. Kaj is kind, understanding, and determined to help his boss root out corruption in the area. However, he also fears for his son’s safety. Val is a Marine veteran, tenderhearted, capable, and thoughtful. However, she is also estranged from her sister Sylvie. Elijah is ten years old, smart for his age, and kindhearted. Kaj and Val seem to balance each other, but their attraction came on a little too fast. However, these strong protagonists with strong senses of determination were easy to get behind and hope that they succeed in their endeavors. Several characters from book one make an appearance in this one as well so readers can catch up on their lives as well. Some of the antagonists are known immediately while others are slowly revealed.

Success!

This riveting crime thriller, police procedural, and romantic suspense novel keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The novel builds suspense in a way that pulls readers into the lives of the characters. The plot is full of chasing down leads and interviewing people as well as plenty of danger for those involved. I enjoyed how the author provided unpredictable moments and a little humor, which offset some gruesome spots in this tale. Themes include murder, abduction, relationships, families, drugs, friendship, secrets, trust, assault, torture, corruption, and much more. years ago Kit vowed to find her sister Wrens killer and she became a Detective to do it, ever since the tragic event along with her foster father they’ve turned over every stone and come up with nothing, they’ve had no new leads on Wrens killer for the past 5 years. This new case is so similar to what happened to Wren can Kit do what she does best dispute the pain?. Only thanks to client confidentiality Sam can't reveal his client's name. Which immediately makes him Kit's number one suspect. Assistant District Attorney Kaj Cardozo has only lived in New Orleans for six months, but he is known in both New York and in his new home city for his fight against corruption. He’s also working a high-profile celebrity assault case that is getting publicity across the country. When his son Elijah becomes the target of a kidnapping attempt, Kaj hires Broussard Investigations to protect Elijah. Val Sorensen is the person assigned to be his bodyguard and the firm is hired to investigate the incident. The investigation reveals more than they bargained for, as drugs, corruption, and murder are discovered. From the first rousing chapter to the last, Scream for Me is intense, complex, and unforgettable.”— New York Times bestselling author James Patterson
