If you’re feeling more like fire is your thing, the flamer is equally range limited and has less damage at just 2 or 3, but even more shots and a better BS, as well as the Torrent rule allowing it to splash onto nearby enemies. While Genestealers only have 2 APL, their Lightning Reflexes ability lets them perform free Dash actions, making them a bit speedier than expected.If you’re not into the idea of a four-model kill team (and it does have some downsides, just in terms of the sheer area you can cover and the costs you pay per model killed), you can swap out two of our Custodes for five Sisters of Silence (or go 10 Sisters, if you prefer). All of the factions for Warhammer 40K are available to play, with some limitations on the units and miniatures you can use. The obvious tactic here is to take the Strangler against horde opponents and the Venom Cannon against elite teams. These aren’t digested entries to save space – each team includes both their regular game rules and their unique Spec Ops content, so you won’t need any other book** to play a complete narrative campaign with them. For people worried about power levels the Intercession link can be pared down to models with the “Warrior” or “Gunner” names.A Repentia model can be your Leader (in the form of a Repentia Superior – the actual Repentia aren’t leading anybody! A team composed fully of Genestealers is the second worst choice simply due to its many limitations. One of the biggest questions we had coming into new Kill Team was how it would handle Custodes and I’m happy to say the answer is ‘pretty well. It makes remembering things easier when the chainswords clank before a mighty eight foot tall Astartes is cleaved in twain.

The Superior gets a pretty expansive list of equipment options – if it’s in the Battle Sister box, you can take it. In addition to the core rules, the Intercession Squad Kill Team will get you right into the action with a band of six powerful Primaris Intercessors or Assault Intercessors – which you can mix and match to suit your tactics. Shooting attacks through engaged allies now incur -1 attack dice penalties, which makes the rules about base movement matter much more than on Open. These two pieces of equipment are very similar in that they are roughly highly accurate short range bolters. Kill Team also features Tac Ops Objectives, which are drawn at the start of the game, and are secret ways of scoring victory points, on top of the usual mission objectives.This latter team provides access to Hormagaunts and Termagants, and is limited to one per Kill Team. Each weapon on an operative's datacard has an attack value, which is the number of dice rolled, and a ballistic skill/weapon skill figure, which is the number needed on each dice to hit. While the teams included in the Compendium are good for learning, most lack the rules depth for competitive play. Sisters have decent statlines – 8W and a 3+ save – are immune to psychic powers, and can carry bolters and flamers or some very nasty swords.
